Neighborhood Spotlight: Willard Hay

Located in the larger Near North neighborhood in beautiful Minneapolis, Willard Hay has so much to offer! 

Enjoy these fabulous parks with your friends, your dogs, or on your own!

Theodore Wirth Park, named for the superintendent of Minneapolis parks from 1906 to 1936. Theodore Wirth was instrumental in creating the AMAZING system of parks that Minneapolis holds. This park is now made up of 759 acres of hiking, biking, cross-country skiing trails, an 18 hole golf course (Book your tee time here!), a 9 hole golf course, disc golfing, archery, snowtubing, and playgrounds. SO many activities, all year ‘round! And don’t miss the beach on Wirth Lake with volleyball courts, basketball courts and more!

Another cool spot to check out at this park is the geographic marker at the corner of Wirth Parkway and Golden Valley Road. It marks the 45° latitude line, exactly halfway between the equator and the North Pole!

North Commons Park, located at 1701 Golden Valley Road, is a great place to relax and have fun in the MPLS summer heat. It’s fun for the whole family here with slides, a shallow pool (for the little ones!), geysers, funbrellas, and more! The best part is youth under 18 are free!

Willard Park can also be found in this neighborhood, on the corner of 17th Ave N and Queen Ave N, this is a great place to shoot some hoops, wade in the pool or kick around a soccer ball!
